Callicarpi bodinieri ‘Imperial Pearl’ is a vigorous, strongly branching variety which has been selected for its particularly prolific production of decorative berries.
In summer, Callicarpa ‘Imperial Pearl’ is an inconspicuous shrub, forming a quiet green backdrop to border plantings with small pinkish flowers. But its star performance in the autumn is well worth waiting for when its bare stems are loaded with masses of spectacular purple berries which shine like jewels on a bright day. There’s simply no other plant like it. The berries persist for a long time and are avoided by birds due to their bitter flavour. For the best performance plant it in a position bathed in full sun and you will also be rewarded with yellow and purple foliage tints in autumn. As well as enjoying the berries in the garden, you can also cut a few branches for vases and admire the luminous, vivid colour of the magical berries up close. Height and spread: 200cm – 300cm (78-118in).
The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
