A hardy, deciduous, shrub, or small tree, whose stout branches are heavily armed with very sharp spines. From April to June, the intoxicating scent of the white, cup-shaped flowers is reminiscent of Orange blossom. Occasionally a second flush of blooms are produced during autumn. The flowers are followed by small, inedible, bitter green fruits which ripen to pale-orange. The dark green folige turns to yellow in the autumn, giving further seasonal interest. This is undoubtedly a magnificent and rarely seen shrub for a sunny position where it will provide colour and perfume over an extremely long period. Consider growing in a large container to restrict its size. Height: 5m (16′). Spread: 5m (16′).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
