A popular choice for hedging in the UK; Privet is easy to grow, tolerant of pollution and drought resistant. Hedges can last many years, are fast-growing, easy to trim and maintain, and are generally untroubled by pests and diseases.

Ligustrum ovalifolium is ideal for any size of garden, in sun or deep shade, and makes a neat and tidy evergreen hedge of any shape. Plants will produce clusters of white flowers, but this is unlikely if hedges are trimmed regularly. Height and Spread: Up to 4m (13′).

While Ligustrum are usually evergreen plants, staying in leaf through winter, severe cold temperatures can cause them to drop some or all of their leaves. This is a natural reaction and causes no permanent damage even when specimens lose all their leaves. New growth comes back quickly in spring.
