This Japanese Wisteria makes a worthy choice for sunny walls and fences. The fragrant lilac-blue, pea-like flowers are borne in short racemes of around 20cm (8″) long in May and June. During the summer months, the woody, clockwise-twining stems are cloaked in attractive pinnate foliage. Flowering profusely from a young age, Wisteria floribunda ‘Domino’ is reliable and showy, earning it a prestigious RHS AGM. Height: 6m (19’). Spread: 3m (10’). Supplied as a grafted plant.
Culinary note: The flowers are the only edible part of the plant and can be made into an aromatic wine. Their flavour is perfumed. Caution: All other parts of wisteria are poisonous. For more details about edible flowers click here.
